Fee changes on the way for selling boats

We wanted to give you a heads up that from 9 February we are making some changes to listing and success fees for selling boats, marina berths, dinghies and rowboats on Trade Me.

Selling a boat using a classified ad will change from a listing fee of $29 or $39 to between $39 and $59, depending on the asking price:

- $39 for an asking price under $1,000
- $49 for $1,000-$10,000
- $59 for over $10,000

If the asking price is increased it may increase the listing fee. There is no success fee.

Selling a boat via auction will change from a listing fee of $29 or $39 to a flat fee of $39. Rather than a success fee of $15 for sales up to $1,000 and $39 for sales over $1,000, the new success fee will be 1.95% of the sale price (up to $39).

Fees for promoting boats listings remain unchanged.

Our free Gallery for $1 reserve special has now finished. However, any live listings with $1 reserve and free Gallery will continue to show with Gallery until they close.

If you have My Products listings with $1 reserve and free Gallery, then we have turned Gallery off these products so you don’t get charged the Gallery fee when your product relists. However, as with regular listings, any live My Products listings with $1 reserve and free Gallery will continue to show with Gallery until they close.

If you wish to add Gallery back on to your product, please edit the product.
Free WiFi all go in Christchurch

We’ve been working with some cool companies to get free WiFi up and running in the flash new Re:Start Cashel Mall retail precinct in Christchurch's CBD, and it was officially switched on this week.

Thanks to the good people at Enable Networks, FX Networks and The Press for helping make it all happen. All these companies are committed to helping out in Christchurch and the ongoing efforts to rebuild the city.

The free WiFi network means everyone visiting Re:Start with WiFi capability on their phone, laptop or tablet will be able to surf the internet. The initiative is completely free and public with no commercial or revenue objectives.

As mentioned in The Press on Saturday, if it goes well we'll look to extend it down the track too.

The Christchurch initiative follows in the footsteps of the free WiFi on the Wellington waterfront we kicked off back in January, in conjunction with Wellington City Council.

Some technical information for any WiFi boffins out there (you know who you are):
- the network is called "Trade Me FREE WiFi”
- you can see what the landing page looks like here
- access points are in place around the Re:Start precinct
- the fibre connection is provided by Enable Networks
- the backhaul to Wellington is provided by FX Networks
- the network is delivered via outdoor high performance, multi-radio 802.11n mesh access points.
