o.k., here we go again, this duck shaped crisp was won at auction today and the winner payed the 16.99 and offered the crisp back to my sister to aid in her mid wife training. I cannot thank this bidder enough, a truely altruistic action.
two winning bidders now have donated the crisp back to my sis, 36.99 she's made so far, about half a book she reckons. good on ya NZ!

this is a salt and vinegar crisp that is shaped like a duck, one of a kind, one in a million, miracle of nature.
a once in a day time opportunity to own a piece of potato history.

Questions and answers

Hi Watched the last auction and enjoyed the Q + A immensely . Hated to see no bids so got the ball rolling again. As stated in last auction it is a he/she duck and in this instance is extremely valuable as it may breed further crisps all by itself ha ha !!! baldy6661 (32 )  9:03 pm, Mon 3 Mar
ah bless your merry soul, and yes, being an hermaphrodite there is every possability that it might multiply, but thats assuming it even likes its self, it might not be it's type! take note bidders, this is a truely enlightened bidder, now follow suit and send my sister to the maternity wards of new zealand as a fully qualified mid wife, the last two auctions bought her half a book! 8:32 am, Tue 4 Mar
Can it fly or swim?? fozzy9 (14 )  9:58 am, Tue 4 Mar
of course it can....just not very well....not that i've actually tested the theory...so I can't guarenty it can fly or swim, but I would hazard a reasonably good guess that it can indeed both fly and swim just not very well. 11:09 am, Tue 4 Mar
Seller Comment: the chap that won the last auction of this item and then donated the crisp back to my sister for re-auction was called Shaun from a place called www.biogascompany.co.nz, ever have any dealings with him, give him a big pat on the back and say "What a good joker" money went in to sisters account this morning, she learns another day! 11:12 am, Tue 4 Mar
While I do suspect that it may have been a bored factory worker rather than a "miracle of nature", it is an amusing shape so what the heck eh!? crusader4g (26 )  3:19 pm, Tue 4 Mar
ah the mighty crusader4g oh wise one from mot, my nephew runs a cafe in motueka, I'll tell him to keep an eye out for you and spring for a free panini.. yes you are correct, probably a bored factory worker was responsible, but isn't it a miracle of nature they were inspired enough to make a duck shape in the first place! now everyone, follow the crusader and bid like theres no tommorow! 5:37 pm, Tue 4 Mar
Thanks for your wise and insightful reply,I have a slight concern that I must express though, the description states this is a once in a daytime chance but I have not seen such a spectacular crisp ever before, so is really once in a life time is it not or do you have multiple carved from the same donor? Once confirmed I may be tempted to place a higher bid exceeding all those before me including myself and should I decide to be reborn I would love your sister to be trained for such an event :-) baldy6661 (32 )  9:44 pm, Tue 4 Mar
my sister is not yet FULLY trained as a mid wife, that is the reasoning behind this event, but, once trained, i'm sure she will discount your re-birth. this may be more than a once in a day time event but since we have no record of this happening on a greater scale, day time is all we have to go on, so, rather than mis lead we would rather under rather than over state it's magnitude. NOW BID, BID LIKE THERE IS NO TOMMOROW! 10:38 pm, Tue 4 Mar
do you still have the chips origional packaging? and when does this duckie expire/die? eshana (280 )  10:10 pm, Tue 4 Mar
it is not a chip, it is a crisp. the packaging, I am ashamed to say, is in a land fill. it , once again, is a crisp, I dont think they have a date in which they expire...NOW BID! or atleast tell ten friends about how you actually were inspired to ask a question on the auction of a single crisp, then pat yourself on the back knowing you were able to do somthing so silly and fun! 10:44 pm, Tue 4 Mar
This was on breakfast TV1, today. xxx sexxi chip swamp123 (426 )  10:22 pm, Tue 4 Mar

I've tried my whole life to become famous, I've achieved some incredibly creative tasks, even tbhoughb I could never spell very well, I have written songs, stories and poens, interviewed some of this countries and this worlds most important people, and still, a crisp gets more fame than me...oh well that's my big sister for you... everyone always DID like her more than me! Does it bear any resemblance to any famous ducks, ie, Scrooge or Donald, or is it more of a ordinary run of the mill mallard or muscovy???? fozzy9 (14 )  7:09 pm, Wed 5 Mar
I like to think it's like the nobody that makes it big, you know, the down and out, that some how fights back and wins...yeh, the underdog...or should I say, the undercrisp! 10:35 pm, Wed 5 Mar
is it a mummy,daddy,or babby ducky? boy or girl? soccerboy3 (19 )  7:59 pm, Wed 5 Mar
it's a he she, both male and female, very rare indeed. will answer to he or she, him or her and would suit names like cameron, charlie, or chris. 10:39 pm, Wed 5 Mar
wow that CHIP has got the cranky pants on some people... what a waste of space that could be used for genuine auctions, not scams. dashadowman125 (22 )  8:35 pm, Wed 5 Mar
hardly a scam sir, it is what it is, this crisp is a crisp just like a digital camera is a digital camera. I make no false claim, this really is a salt and vinegar crisp, and you have to admit, it does actually look like a duck, sure it dosn't have webbed feet, but a duck, it looks like, blame sir not me, but the gods, AND BID..BID LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT! 10:42 pm, Wed 5 Mar
Hello, just wondering what flavour the crisp is? Is it Duck or Chicken and what flavour did would suit it best? angen1 (50 )  8:41 pm, Wed 5 Mar

Is the crisp still crispy as it is not in the originally packaging? Is it stored in an air tight container to maintain crispness and freshness? galvn (41 )  8:07 pm, Thu 6 Mar
no it may not be as crispy as it once was, but without eating the crisp one dosn't know, but then you have to think, if a tree falls in a forest and no one is there to see, does it make a sound, the crisp in quaestion may, or may not be as crisp as it once was but without a bite one will never know, so in answer to you question, the crisp is as crisp as you could immagine - or not! 10:47 pm, Thu 6 Mar
In regard to the tree falling in the forest, if a man is in a forest by himself, and says something, and no woman can possibly hear him , is he still wrong ha ha baldy6661 (32 )  7:42 am, Fri 7 Mar

ah, very rare indeed, but alas that falls some where between the duck shaped crisp and a bottom shaped tomato which is all together quite common really. a three chambered peanut, althought QUITE rare, not unseen and untill you actually break it open one dosn't know if it holds three peanuts, and onces it's broken open, the three chambers are destroyed, woe! 8:42 am, Sun 9 Mar
I think you have some competion as there is a battered swan on another auction, unlike you I think they will be keeping the money all to themselves....Does this worry you? next thing you know there will be a cow shaped turnip, its all too much. waiheke007 (87 )  4:06 pm, Sun 9 Mar
the cow shaped turnip offers very little competition, turnips, really, take on many shapes, mary in rome, elvis in vegas, even beckom in a vodaphone shop, the battered swan worries me though, has it been deep fried yet? 7:46 am, Mon 10 Mar
Sorry no , never been in a band and to be fair I,m not balding , it,s the clean shave for me , as the preverbial badger :-)The armed guard has,nt developed a hunger has he ? baldy6661 (32 )  7:26 pm, Sun 9 Mar
ah yes, I got my mop taken off for charity once, raised a rather large amount of money and one huge ice cream head ache, it was winter in the naki, bad timing if you asked me. 7:47 am, Mon 10 Mar
lol I enjoyed watching this auction last time. To all you people out there complaining of time wasting auctions... lighten up! Having a bit of laughter in your day is better than sitting at your computer wearing grumpy pants. I say... go the duck crisp! jewel38 (341 )  10:44 pm, Sun 9 Mar

go the duck....NOW BID ALL YOU LOVERS OF FEATHERED ROOT VEGE! 7:49 am, Mon 10 Mar
could this crisp be the offspring of said battered swan?? either through inbreeding or perhaps by the swan mateing with a duck?? would explain the deformity of missing feet and maybe for the homaphroditism hmmm it makes me wonder in awe. tymacre (64 )  9:52 am, Mon 10 Mar
all these things MUST make it more rare than we all immagined. but rather than a duck if it were the ducked shaped offspring of a battered swam it would be called a swuck making it rarer still...BID...BID LIKE THE WIND! 10:47 am, Mon 10 Mar
LOL been watching this last couple days man funny comments. Love when people action things like this like the person that did a bernt slick of toast and another was a black old banana, Oh and that rock that was on the news. Hi I,m back :-) Been offline for a day or two but I see the fun has continued , the family has been harrassing me to find out how the auction going. As I am not allowed a pig I may be allowed a duck to add to the pet pile. It could be MANS BEST FRIEND and one must ask if it was locked in the boot of a car with my wife for 1 hour and then released which 1 would be really pleased to see me ??? I rest my case haha , It should really be taken on a nationwide tour !! baldy6661 (32 )  9:20 pm, Tue 11 Mar
I laughed so much it hurt, and yes, if your wife and the crisp were locked and alone in the boot of a car would the tree in the forest still make the sound of one hand clapping? a wise man once said "a truely enlightened individual will get warm twice, and chop his own forewood" A NEW RECORD PEOPLE immagine cameras doing that annoying zoom in out thing in time with "thank you very much" $25!!!!! bid BID!!! 7:48 am, Wed 12 Mar

ah yes, a path well travelled but a journey worth the effort, there are some truely enlightened individuals in New-Biddy-land, there are also some truely disturbed ones, but they just make it all the more fun...NOW BID...BID LIKE THE WIND...I CAN FLY HIGHER THAN AN EAGLE, WHEN YOU ARE THE BID BENEATH MY WINGS.... 7:52 am, Wed 12 Mar

see , now , I'm not only amazed at people bidding, but that people are even asking questions about this ...this....crisp! BUT i'm sure it's because we all want to be a part of this truely awe inspiring event, as once this crisp has left my sisters fridge and sits in the hands of it's new bidder, this will all be over, but those that bid, and those that spoke, can say, I was part of the sillyness! NOW BID!!! 3:52 pm, Wed 12 Mar
is it stale? samlahood (232 )  6:28 pm, Wed 12 Mar
is it stale?...IS IT STALE!!??....um....dunno. untill the crisp is eaten it's as fresh as the day the packet was opened, once again i hark back to the argument, if a dog is sealed in a box, it remains alive untill the box is opened and proven dead, so aslong as the box is sealed the dog is alive and barking...furiously...I would if some one locked me in a box...philosophers are weird. 7:42 pm, Wed 12 Mar
Just a thought....with the popularity this potatoe derived duck is gaining,he/she/it could go on to become a ruthless leader of people, would that make him a dictator or a duck-tater???? fozzy9 (14 )  6:47 pm, Wed 12 Mar
a duck-tater deffo, it could really quack the whip and get stuff done and if anyone complained, well, it would all just be water off a a ruthless leaders back. I hear castro's retiring...hey maybe????a cuban duck shaped leader...cripes the americans had a bush as theirs! 7:45 pm, Wed 12 Mar
Will you watch me eat it? tim_the_toolman (102 )  7:43 pm, Wed 12 Mar
as disturbing as that request sounds, my family live in chch, so, if you pay for my travel, I will certainly, watch you eat said duck shaped crisp, pay enough and I'll even supply the dip! but what a shame it would be toend all this creative sillyness. 7:48 pm, Wed 12 Mar

I have 2 more questions to secure my bid , even though it is probably against tm rules regarding human trafficing , you mentioned you have teenagers in the house . I am in the position to offer a 1 time exchange , the crisp for a teenage daughter??? and will the duck be migrating south soon as winter approaches ,if so ,god willing my bid is successful I therefore may be able to chuck some bread out on the lawn and await his/her arrival thus saving on freight !! baldy6661 (32 )  10:32 pm, Wed 12 Mar

Hi. Read all comments. Sounds crazy, tho fun. I am about to start a Midwife course.Maybe I should find something for every one to bid on too? LOL I actually went the safe, tho boring way & got a Student Loan! This covers ALL fees & books. I really think he/she looks like Daffy Duck & a little like Gyro Gearloose, the goose. This either shows how generous NZers are, or how loopy, to bid on a much handled, soft by now, crisp. Not bein sarki :o) purrcasso (308 )  1:55 pm, Thu 13 Mar
my poor old sister has three kids that are about to get student loans, dunno if the famdamily could do a fourth one! hey, maybe you could auction off your first delivery???? may be I'll tell my sister that.....and your right..it does look a bit like a daffy-gyro hybrid, perhaps even a little tweedy bird?? 3:27 pm, Thu 13 Mar

Is this a small wild or domesticated web-footed broad-billed swimming bird usually having a depressed body and short legs ..oh I see it has no legs so it can only fly and not walk or waddle.
