Questions and answers

Is this badge a reproduction? It looks like a cast badge and not die stamped? Geoff Lowes book says "this type with N & Z set in circles, on the fern leaves was worn by reinforcements 7 to 11" bethr (639 )  4:27 pm, Thu 14 Sep
This badge is NOT a reproduction. 9:00 am, Fri 15 Sep
The badge is fine. They were generally used from 6th to 11th Reinfs, but have seen this type as high as 16ths. The reason the back looks funny is that the jeweller has not used the backing die (this appears on a few WW1 reinf badges)and it looks like a different from the usual one when the design is evident on the back. Also a different loop style from what is normally found on this frame (thick short hex type), but these are encountered. sniff2 (1419 )  8:28 pm, Fri 15 Sep
