Description
This is an auction for AN INTRODUCTION TO NEW ZEALAND PAINTING 1839-1967, by Gordon H Brown & Hamish Keith.
"AN INTRODUCTION TO NEW ZEALAND PAINTING 1839-1967 revolutionised the historical approach to New Zealand art by bringing it right up to date. Illustrated with black and white and colour plates of paintings from all eras, from Charles Heaphy's Mount Egmont to Colin McCahon's Six Days in Nelson & Canterbury. The collaboration between the two writers had Hamish Keith writing chapters on Heaphy, Kinder, Van der Velden, Perkins and McCahon as well as on subjects such as the Colonists and Contemporary Developments. Gordon H. Brown wrote chapters on Fox, Nairn, Woollaston and Hanly, plus three chapters on the development of New Zealand art from the 1880s to the 1940s."
