Watch for this yellow 4WD parked outside our workshop when you pass through The Engineers Camp, Lewis Pass. ( 45 km west of Hanmer Springs turnoff)

If your car breaks down be prepared to be rescued by --a LADA! ( oh the humiliation) but never had a tow turned down yet.

This is the hardest working Lada in New Zealand. Thrashed for years and still going. Towed many famous loads through the mountains including the Flying Kiwi, PCR NZ champion sprint boat, 2 ton digger and an old spare parts Bedford CF

Lada is fitted with honda front seats. way better than the original seats.

Had the outside layer to bare metal. rust coated it, primered it and painted - bright yellow.
Stripped out the good interior to roughen it up for my dirty overalls and muddy boots, didn't want to ruin the upholstery.
That's after we pulled the Lada motor and installed a Grunty 1600 Fiat 131 twin cam motor and 5 speed Gbox along with a Cortina 2000 twin barrel carb. Has custom exhaust, nice note.

And it's still a slug!!

Over 85kph it's as noisy as hell inside and vibrates but can pull anything up any hill and back down again - Even a 2 tonne digger- providing you go reeeeal slooow. Permanent 4 wheel drive with center locking diff ( 3 diffs all up) and Hi Lo ratio transfer drive. Quite an advanced system.
Now has our Motorcycle Exhausts webname on the bonnet also.
