Kia Ora,
For sale here is a Hei Whao Pounamu (greenstone chisel) made from Douglas Creek Pounamu. This piece features ribbons of dark green and white that are characteristic of stone from this area. Beveled edges and a polished finish make this pendant small, but striking.
At $1 reserve this taonga will go to the highest bidder. Don't miss out.
Style: Hei Whao.
Significance: A symbol of hard work and diligence.
Provenance: Douglas Creek.
Dimensions: (L) 52 mm x (W) 23 mm x (D) 7 mm
Finishing: Polish with organic beeswax.
Neck cord: Four strand braided black waxed polyester with adjustable slip knots.
We have developed a passion for pounamu and carving, a unique part of the culture and heritage of Aotearoa. We’ve been fortunate to learn a variety of skills from highly skilled and respected Tohunga Whakairo, for this we’re grateful. While we carve primarily as a hobby, we do sell a selection of our pieces to fund our efforts.
We only work with New Zealand stone and personally bless all our carvings. We can also assist if you’d like to perform a blessing yourself. We can wrap any taonga especially as a gift upon request. Every one of our pieces is absolutely unique in stone and style, while similar pieces can be reproduced, most should be considered one-off.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.
Thanks
