This charity auction is for an original cartoon drawing by renowned New Zealand cartoonist Tom Scott. The picture is signed by the artist and has been mounted and framed.

The framed picture measures 46cm x 59cm to the outside edges of the frame. (The drawing itself measures 27cm x 41cm.)

This cartoon was produced by Scott in July 2010. It is a critical commentary on the proposal at that time to increase MPs’ salaries by 10% to compensate for their loss of certain perks.

Tom Scott has been one of New Zealand’s pre-eminent cartoonists since the 1970s. He has been the regular cartoonist for the New Zealand Listener magazine, the Evening Post and its successor the Dominion Post, for most of his career. Scott has won numerous awards, including New Zealand Cartoonist of the Year (five times), Columnist of the Year, and Political Columnist of the Year (three times).

This auction is to raise funds for a 4 year old called Millie, who was diagnosed with cancer in February 2012. Millie is from Wellington but is undergoing treatment in Christchurch. Funds raised from the auction will be used to help Millie’s parents to pay for expenses.
