We are super excited to launch a brand new Close Encounter at Wellington Zoo – where you can come and meet and interact with our cheeky Meerkat mob!

To celebrate, we are auctioning off the first chance to do the encounter, as well as the opportunity for you and your family to name some of our newest additions to the Meerkat family!

The proceeds of the auction will go towards helping us look after our Meerkats along with all the other amazing animals at Wellington Zoo. As part of our commitment to New Zealand conservation, last year we provided free veterinary care for over 1,000 native animals at Wellington Zoo. This auction helps us continue to provide free care for native wildlife.

The encounter is valued at $90 per person with the first encounter available to general visitors on Saturday 18 August. Encounters will be bookable from Wednesday 15 August.

Prize includes:

- A Meerkat encounter for 4 people - to be taken between Wednesday 15 August and Friday 17 August
- The chance to name 4 of our Meerkats
- 1x Kiwi or Kakariki Zoo Crew membership for 1 year

The fine print!
• Bidders are bidding for the opportunity to participate in the first Meerkat encounter and name the animals only.
• The winning bidder has no rights to the animal’s image or the animal itself.
• Wellington Zoo Trusts reserve the right to approve the winning names chosen for our Meerkats.
• All encounter participants must be 4 years or older, and the group must include at least one parent or guardian 14 or over.
