This auction is for the sponsorship of one New Zealand falcon (so far called ‘OtaGO’) for her release into the wild.

OtaGO was captive bred at Wingspan National Bird of Prey Centre, from parents permanently injured and unable to be released. OtaGO’s mother has two broken wings after being shot, while her father is blind in one eye after being poked with a stick. OtaGO is a young, healthy bird, and we want to set her free.

This tax deductible donation contributes towards her captive rearing, intensive training, and release. Naming rights, media opportunities, progress updates and a colour photograph are included, plus a membership and free entry to Wingspan National Bird of Prey Centre with a special behind-the-scenes tour.

OtaGO hatched on 31st October, weighing just 20gms. On Christmas Day 2012, with her brand new flight feathers, training started to get her fit and flying, and prepare her for freedom. She’s a southern belle and will be released into the wild in Otago at the end of January.

We need your help to make this happen. This auction is about being part of a unique community effort helping New Zealand’s raptors …. and one special female falcon released into the wild.

Limited Edition, only found in New Zealand, brand new feathers, sharp beak, long claws, New Zealand’s fastest bird, weight 550 grams, New Zealand’s favourite bird 2012-2013, Field Guide; on the $20 note (she’s on the money!)

Free the falcon OtaGO.
