16mm Film - EX MOT - The Games Plan

A description of the film by the previous owner was simply "Christchurch 1974 games...footage of time.... publicity info thing"... Sorry so not sure exactly how to interperate that, other than that it has something to do with the Commonweath Games in Christchurch 1974.

I will be selling a quite a few of these pre M.O.T (Road Transport Division) and M.O.T films. They were produced primarily for promotion road safety awareness by traffic police when visiting schools.

They form a very considerable collection of early NZ road safety films ranging from the 1950s to 1970s, some color and some black and white . Looking online I have found copies of some of these films held at various places (eg Archives NZ and NZ Police), but there are also quite a few i cannot find and so may very well be last copies.

Film topics range all the way from road safety and drink driving (Students being fed alcohol and the effects on their driving ) and breath tests. to "what is a traffic officer?", the 1974 Christchurch Commonwealth Games, Newmans Centennial, Chimpanzees on bicycles and loads other films aimed at school children.

Sizes vary from small right through to very large. I am genuinely unsure of their condition although when i originally purchased them i was assured that they had been thoughtfully stored (at least for the last 20 or so years). I've had a look at a few of them and they seam to to be mostly good. Keep in mind that some of these would have been of very limited print and presumably would have been shown many times over the decades, so i would reasonably anticipate at least some signs of use. However, if on receipt you feel entirely unhappy with its condition , just return and i will gladly refund the purchase price.
