The only remaining traffic light from the Old One-laned Kopu Bridge needs a new home! Seize this once in a lifetime opportunity to own a piece of Thames-Coromandel history.
The other traffic signals from the old bridge ended up as scrap metal, making this a truly unique buy.
Traditionally associated with traffic flow, these signals were more often referred to as the ‘devil’ by holiday-makers. Enduring tooting, abusive language, smog and countless cries of “are we there yet?”, no object has silently witnessed as much.
For those poor deprived souls who never experienced a Coromandel holiday of old, the one-laned Kopu Bridge was the only way for Aucklanders to travel to their beloved holiday destinations of Thames-Coromandel.
The single-lane bridge was notorious for congestion.
During Christmas as the population of the area almost trebles, queues of up to three hours were common. THREE HOURS waiting to cross a bridge! Staring into the becoming lashes of a red traffic light, this dashing signal was seen, cursed-at (and ignored) by thousands of people.

Today, our most hated historical traffic light needs a new home. Collectors, this is your lucky day!
Place a bid for a chunk of New Zealand history (or hell, depending on how you look at it).
100% Original, 100% Unique, taken from the old Kopu Bridge shortly after closure.

This light was the approaching light from the Hauraki Plains side of the bridge as per photos.
