Hi there,

You know you're a Kiwi if you've been woken in the night by a possum, played backyard cricket, can hum along to the Country Calendar jingle, have been in contact with a Swanndri, concrete mixer, chainsaw or Edmonds Cookery Book, or have held a feathery flightless bird.

This month we're celebrating all things Kiwi. From our quirky qualities as a country, to our feathered wee pals who represent us.

We're stoked to be supporting Kiwis for kiwi 'Save Kiwi Month' that kicked off on 1 October. This aims to raise $100,000 which is enough to save 1,000 kiwi from pests and predators for an entire year. Keep an eye out for a bunch of money-can't-buy experiences being auctioned off: please support our kiwi!

Rural Trade Me addicts
We spotted an inspiring story on Stuff about a Manawatu farming couple who bought all sorts of second-hand equipment on Trade Me to convert their sheep/beef farm to a dairy operation: the dairy shed, pipes, gates, colostrum tank, ute, quad bike, calf trailer, irrigator and fertiliser spreader. That's powerful use of the Farming category right there.

But our favourite bit was this: "Mike and Ryley wrote in their wedding invitation that they wanted to buy cows for the converted farm. Some wedding gifts included money for cows. The ones they got have special ear tags. They bought 35 cows off Trade Me."

Congratulations on all fronts Ryley and Mike!

Maudes' magic
Last month one of our legendary Trade Me sellers ticked their way past 10,000 positive feedback. That's a great milestone for anyone, but their story is extra nice to share.

Maudes on Trade Me is the virtual hospice shop that sells everything under the Canterbury sun to raise money for Nurse Maude charity, providing nursing and home support to more than 400,000 people, and has been doing so for 118 years. To the Maudes volunteers who do all the hard yakka, coordinating around 300 listings every week – keep up the awesome work.
