Hi there,

Just like that, winter's gone and the countdown to summer begins – woohoo! You know what that means... it's spring clean time. Out with the old and in with the new.

We've just kicked off the Starship Spring Clean – list an item, pledge your support of Starship and when you donate 50% or more of the sale proceeds to Starship, we'll refund your success fees. Choice, huh? Starship have oodles of cool auctions up for grabs too, like a complete collector's set of New World Little Shop minis, a giant tennis ball signed by Venus Williams, and return flights for two to Hong Kong.

The first 1,000 members to list and sell an item for the Starship Spring Clean go in the draw to win a $1,000 Travelbug voucher.* By getting your sell on you might even get to keep a bit of pocket money for yourself. Why not put it towards new outdoor furniture, a BBQ or pizza oven, a lawnmower or gardening supplies for the warm weather on its way?

Yellow, purple, blue or orange?
TV3's The Block NZ is back for a third season and we're excited to be supporting them again right here on Trade Me.

Two pre-war bungalows have been cut in half, stripped back and will eventually be developed into four upmarket family homes.

The teams are transforming the houses in Point Chevalier in Auckland, working from the ground up. Facing more twists and challenges than ever before, some might call them crazy but all four teams are up for the challenge.

Check in on Trade Me Property each week to see The Block NZ listings as we will be updating the revealed rooms straight after they are revealed on the show!

Introducing: Trade Me Hall of fame
Remember the handbag Tana Umaga whacked his Hurricanes rugby teammate over the head with? How about 'Rocky' the boulder that smashed through a house in Sumner? Surely you'll remember the auction for the Jesus Christ-lookalike pita bread in The Tron? Or the very recent marriage wrecker telephone?

We've created a brand new home for some of the memorable auctions we've seen on Trade Me over the years, and it's known as the Hall of fame. We've just kicked it off, and we'll add more listings over time.

Keep your password safe!
Passwords are like underwear – change them often, and don't go showing them to everyone.

We wanted to give you some handy hints about password safety so you don't find yourself baring all:

Make 'em strong. They should have a combination of at least 8 letters, characters and symbols eg. $gUh62%Sq3.
A good strategy is to think of a unique, memorable phrase and construct your password from that, eg. "I have three dogs, two kids and one husband" would be "Ih3d,2ka1h".
Use a different password for each website you use. If one gets compromised, the others shouldn't be affected.
If you haven't changed your passwords in a while or they're not quite up to scratch, it's a good idea to get them updated. Why not update your Trade Me password now?

For even more handy hints, check out our Trust & Safety team's blog post.
