Not for the feint hearted! This is quite astonishing!
These giants have yellow to orange flesh and a fairly smooth medium orange shell with wide ribs.
Developed in Nova Scotia for producing extremely large fruit that weigh 180 kg or more. A strain of this variety actually holds the world's record of 370kg.
Needs full sun and protection from wind.
The only one to grow for giant pumpkin contests: plant 2-4m or more apart. Pollinating the flowers is helpful. Allow only 3 pumpkins per plant and finally single out to leave the best. Water liberally and feed regularly, placing a tile under the fruit to keep it clear of the soil. In autumn lift the pumpkin with some vine attached and leave in a sunny spot sheltered from rain to ripen off completely.
