Description
This is a Bandai Toyopet Crown Deluxe tin police car from (probably) the 1960's and made in Japan. It would have originally been controlled from a cable remote that steered the car as well (it has moving steering parts). It's all tin except for the steering wheel and wheels.
As you can see, this has been well played with and at some point someone has removed and discarded the controller and cables for the steering and a wheel is missing. It is also missing one of its red police lights and I think it may have had fender mounted wing mirrors once upon a time, but no more. The rest seems to be there and quite straight - badges, lights, screens, number plate, door handles etc. Maybe you could pick up the missing parts at a toy car wrecker? (Is there such a thing? And if so, do they have vicious toy guard dogs?)
So it's a bit knocked about but it looks great. I'm selling as I have two the same (the other is in the same condition but has all 4 wheels) and am not interested in forming a miniature Japanese police dept, so one is enough. Looks really cool as a static retro display.
It's 27cm long.
Bandai is a great brand and I understand that this particular model is quite rare
