Hart 420 R, 2 Litre Formula 2 Engine.

Legendary Hart 2 litre Formula 2 engine. Serial number: 420 R 76618. 1976. Since total rebuild it has done 6 hours @ 9500 r.p.m max, (well under the 11,000 r.p.m. it was designed for. Crank & bore still standard size. The following work was done during rebuild: new pistons, new rods, new valves & springs, new seats & guides, new followers, new belts, new oil pump rotors, rehardened head. Comes complete with Hart alternator and Lucas mechanical fuel injection. No full dyno figures are available but it was showing 250 b.h.p. @ 8500 r.p.m, well short of the maximum r.p.m. of 11,000. These engines normally achieve 300 b.h.p. with ease. It pushes a Ralt RT 1 round Pukekohe in 58.3 secs.
