Audi Rare MTM 286hp! 1997

Genuine MTM 286hp A4 Quattro.

Before the RS4, there was this.... In 1997, Audi NZ imported 30 of these 286hp models to NZ (some sedans, some wagons) The new retail price was $120,000 plus... the same as the BMW M3 of the time, and roughly twice the price of an Evo or a STi.

These 30 cars were sent straight from the Audi factory to MTM in Germany for modification to the 286hp specifications. Don't be confused.. most "MTM" Audis are standard cars with chips in the computer. The only thing standard in the engine bay of these 286hp cars is the block and pistons. MTM fitted a completely different 20 valve head, big single KKK turbo, external wastegate, big bore exhaust, carbon fibre airbox, and a custom ECU. Clutch and suspension was also MTM upgraded.

Inside, this car has leather Recaros and walnut trim. Stereo has been upgraded to a Panasonic tilt face CD unit, with Aux in for your MP3 player. The Blaupunkt speakers sound awesome and create a ton of bass.

This car has only done 113,000ks and has been garaged for most of it's life. The head was completely rebuilt at 100,000ks ($4000 worth) and has also had a Haltech E8 ECU fitted. It's tuned on the Speedsource dyno to a very conservative 320hp at only 1bar boost. The standard springs have been replaced with Eibach items, and the standard MTM 17x8 rims have just been powdercoated black (very cool....) New 235/17 V rated tyres have been fitted, and the car has a new WOF. The Air Conditioning system was completely rebuilt in 2005 ($1300)

I bought this car in 2000, as it was something different to an Evo or WRX STi, and wasn't a grippers car like an M3. :-)
