BMW 740i 1996

The third igeneration of the 7 series (E38) is one to marvel at. From the initial launch in 1994 to the end of production it was a car for the ages. Auto Motor und Sport described the car as "Slim and light on its feet". It featured all of the amenities of a luxury sedan with the exhilarating drive characteristics of a smaller car. This car was the beginning of todays luxury car, with modern technologies, comforts and exclusivity.

This particular model features the M62 4.4 litre V8 with double overhead camshafts with 4 valves per cylinder putting out 210kw and 420Nm of torque from factory. Coupled with the 5 speed steptronic transmission it really is a joy to drive.

This example has been professionally lowered and features massive 19" x 10" wheels all round with quality Toyo T1R's. Combined with BMW's EDC (Electronic Damper Control) and ASC (Active Stability Control) it ensures maximum grip and driveability.

It also has an ultra rare genuine Alpina front valance which gives the vehicle a more aggressive look.

Like any car that has just had it's 15th birthday it does have a few minor niggles:

• the air con has stop blowing cold
• the hood lining is dropping
• the front passenger window has stopped working
• the rear blind does not operate

All of these issues are very minor and have been taken into account when the reserve price was set.
