Toyota Carina GT DOHC 1981

This is an awesome low km toyota twin cam car. The engine is a fuel injected 2T-GEU engine with the Yamaha head. These are bulletproof little engines and were superceded by the 4AGE. It has got a bit of grunt when you need it. It has an independant rear end and 4 wheel disc's. Not sure if the diff is LSD but someone may know?? It certainly gets sideways ok! Model code is TA61.

It looks like the mats in the photo's have been in it from day one as the carpet is like brand new. In fact the whole car is like brand new except for the door/ window frames where the paint has faded with the sun. This is an easy fix which I could probably do myself but I have left it to show you the originality of the car. It feels like a new car to drive, the suspension is tight and it feels like the engine is brand new as well.

I presume it has had only one owner in Japan due to the condition it is in and it has stickers on the door with current oil changes due.

I imported this myself for my own collection but I have no room and a couple of other projects (Maserati and Bellett). This car is too good to have sitting outside.

Here is some info off the net on the engine:- Like the 18RG (2.0L) the 2TG was considered the flagship engine of Toyota's 1600 class until it was superseded by the 4AGE in the 1980s. The 2TG is still a popular engine for conversions in to 'classic' Celicas and Corollas and are often suitable for classic and formula racing series.

All 2TG cylinder heads were cast by Yamaha, however, some are not marked as such.

When bored out to a maximum of 89mm and in combination with a 3T crankshaft, the 2T and 2TG will have a displacement of almost 2.0L. The 2T and 3T series use the same conrod dimensions, with the different pin heights on the pistons. Aftermarket pistons are available from very low (<7:1) through to very high (>13:1) compression ratios.
