Stands 17cm tall and made by John Humphreys Pottery, England.
Rumour has it that this item, along with my other offering, "The Hobo", were made as samples for the Jim Beam Company and that less than twenty of each were made. Beam did not take up the offer to use these as promtions, so therefore there were never anymore made.
I bought both of these on Ebay over 5 years ago and I have never seen similar offered since and are obviously a rare item.
A great and rare addition for any serious Jim Beam collector.
The Aly Sloper character is after the same comic strip, the very first comic strip, published in the "Judy" magazine in 1867. Judy was a rival of the famous UK "Punch" magazine of the same era.
He derived the name through his habitual sloping through alleys to avoid his landlord and other creditors.
