Description
78 wind-up gramophone in good working condition, serviced less than a year ago. It's a Columbia Grafonola, probably around 1920. Originally it would have been a "table-top" gramophone, but many of them like this had cabinets made to measure. Both the gramophone and cabinet are mostly made of solid oak. There is ample storage space for records inside the cabinet, where there is a nine-ply shelf.
The front of the gramophone has a louvered volume control, which is very effective. Records can be played with the lid open or closed.
The turntable is velvet and has minor damage where the needle has torn it. There is a supply of hundreds of metal and thorn needles mostly in original boxes.
The oak finish is good, with no damage beyond acceptable wear and tear, but could benefit from freshening up.
External dimensions: 110cms high, 45cms wide, 49cms deep (front to rear).
