Description
This screen-print from the renown set of Barry Lett Multiples, is by recognized New Zealand artist Ross Ritchie (b. 1941), and was published in 1968,
Ritchie himself has been a key figure in artistic movements in New Zealand, and is known for his use of space, form, and often illusion within his recognized post-modern works.
While other examples of this multiple have fetched ~ $600 at auction, and the set of 12 ~ $12000, this asking price reflects the condition.
It is a brilliant piece of New Zealand art history, and a beautiful work of art - but it is worn. It is faded all over, with scrapes, marks and stains throughout the work. The top of the frame is loose too. It is far from destroyed, but it has not had an easy life. I have done my best to represent this in the photographs, but I would say they are still more favourable than they should be.
This piece is also ex John Leech Gallery.
Measures: 580w x 775h
Pickup is in Eden Terrace.
