Douglas Snelling Rocker and Day chair.

Designed in the late 1940s or early 50s and produced by Snellings functional products company, these chairs are part of Australian Modernist design history and are in the collection at Sydneys Powerhouse Museum.

The chairs have maple frames, the rocker features boomerang sides and both have interwoven webbing with a beautiful patina.

Condition: Both chairs are in original vintage condition. I would say 6 out of 10, 10 being perfect. They have small dents and scratches to the timber frames which I believe could be restored. The webbing on the rocking chair has 2 stains as seen in detailed photo (possibly could be steam cleaned). The red chair has had a repair done, there is thin red stitching where the webbing tore and you can see in the detail photo the side.

They are lovely chairs and look great together. If you were to restore them the new webbing can easily be sorced through furniture upholsterers.

Pick up is in Grey Lynn/ Westmere area.
