This is a very sought after, rare & ORGINAL 1970’s Falcon Chair, designed by Sigurd Resell (1920 - ), produced by Vatne Møbler, Norway, WITH matching FOOT STOOL.

Given the collectability of these classic Scandinavian-designed, multi-award-winning chairs & associated historical data readily accessible on internet (look up Falcon chair on Google!!), I’ll just make a few points about the design of the chair.

The Chrome version of the Falcon chair sold recently (March 2012) at auction at Webb's for $4600 (Lot 102).

Firstly you’ll notice the Falcon Chair’s striking profile, its extremely comfortable floating seat system, beautiful tan leather, & sculptural skeleton frame supporting a canvas sling mounted on thick leather strengthening tabs held by chromed steel mounts, cradling a soft fill, removable, high quality leather cushion & head support.

The Falcon Chair & stool mix in well with many settings/environments/styles, for retro lovers, to fans of Danish modernist furniture, or someone wanting to add a bit of “older” classic designer furniture, with their more modern stuff (something old to balance out the new, giving character).

The chair is very sought after internationally, but even more so in NZ, as during the 1970’s NZ had very strong import controls, making it very difficult to import furniture made overseas, (an import licence was required & could be declined). This added to the cost of the chair, so even though the chair was much admired, few were sold. Furthermore, the seat includes the extremely rare matching foot stool. Most people just bought the seat.

As well as being a stunning chair to own, it has great potential as an investment piece, something that can never be said for a copy/replica !!!

Can be freighted NZ wide at winners request, expense, & risk.

Overall, the chair is in very good condition, One of the tabs has come off, but can be stitch on again (if you want), but this does not effect the function of the chair.
