On the same Teak theme this week I'm pleased to offer a fully refurbished vintage Teak rectangular extension dining table, circa 1960. The ten THONET dining chairs also pictured will be listed separately soon.

Very cool clean minimal design and very versatile extension design is equally suited to modern compact apartment spaces as well as large open-plan areas. The table will comfortably accommodate eight chairs when fully extended or when closed will seat four or six.

This stunner, features a Teak veneered top with beautifully rounded solid Teak bull-nose clashing. With exquisite amber tones of the rich aged Teak with its highly figured open grain patterning which extends continuously across the leaves. Recessed finger pulls and felt lined glides underside provides for easy extension.


A seldom seen example of this type in New Zealand in Teak which was a true pleasure to work on. Extremely strong yet elegant and airy in appearance and a true delight for Mid-Century furniture fanatics.

The table has been stripped bare, cleaned, carefully fine sanded, and has been sealed and finished in six or more coats of Danish Oil, leaving a hard wearing, durable, satin finish that is silky smooth to the touch.
The table frame has been totally deconstructed, re-laminated using top of the line resorcinol glues and clamped then finished with the same treatment as above.
There has been some repairs to the legs but are 100% stable and strong and don't detract at all as seen in the photos.

After 50 to 60 years of use the original glue on furniture from this era breaks down and needs replacing which is why I do a full restoration on my furniture.
