A teak sideboard of Danish origin circa 1960s with wide, sculpted handles to a bank of drawers matched with discrete recessed handles to the sliding cupboard doors
- a functional detail of Danish design often overlooked by the English and Antipodean makers of the time which allows for efficient use of space, especially relevant in today's smaller living spaces, dining areas and offices.
The warm teak has a rich grain and patina, the drawers have a dove tail construction and the sideboard in general has a superior design and build quality. The doors and drawers all glide effortlessly and the height of the interior shelves can be adjusted or removed for extra storage space.
This sideboard is in excellent condition inside and out, no veneer chips or fading are evident. A couple of very light marks as expected with age, however these do not distract from the strikingly grained surface. The tapered legs screw firmly into the base with the option of removal for transportation.
The rear panel bears the Danish Furnituremakers Control mark from the quality control and standards system introduced in Denmark in 1959 and still active today, providing an assurance of quality construction, strength and durability. This sideboard is no exception, just as sturdy and stylish as the day it was made being perhaps the best testament to the mastery of the Danish furniture makers from this period.
A rare, authentic piece of Danish Modernism and a truly unique focal point for the contemporary home.
