Description
Designed: Sebel | Australia |1973
Style: Mid Century Modern Industrial
This auction is for a modular tandem beam bench seat by Sebel.
Modular beam seating was a mid century concept that was developed in the 50’s and 60’s by fastening numerous fixed seating in tandem to one portable unit. The idea was a huge success and quickly cottoned on with many variations of the concept being adopted by some of the world’s biggest names in architecture and design. The chairs can be put to great practical use and would look appealing in the right space.
The seat frame consists of extruded aluminium tubular beam in a titanium coloured lacquered finish with 5 fixed classic Hobnob seating in polypropylene plastic, the seats are all covered in a dark grey fabric that compliments the titanium coloured metal base.
The generous Hobnob shell provides good lumbar support including a roll over front edge to reduce pressure behind the knees. Its lightness makes the bench easy to move around.
Designed by Sebel in 1973, the Hobnob is an iconic design that has well and truly stood the test of time. Its sleek, functional design was the result of comprehensive posture studies and it possesses that certain "classic something" that keeps people coming back for more.
2.6 meters long x 790 high x 520 deep.
