Popularity of cigar smoking surged during US Civil War. Wooden boxes containing cigars were branded with maker's name in the 1870s. Cigar shops & saloons displayed boxes with lids open to show contents. Manufacturers vied to have most attractive labels to lure smokers to their product

Printed on long fiber (like linen) rag stock paper - acid free paper that appears clean & bright with no signs of aging

Labels range in size from 11x12cm - 6x13.5cm Mint condition, unused (they are loose, not pasted down)
