This Auction is for this 1960's Murano Sommerso Turquoise & Honey feature art glass bowl.

In a stunning combination of turquoise and glass cased in a band of amber glass, which is further encased in an angular block of light brown glass, using the renowned Venetian Sommerso technique. A heavy geometric bowl for it's size weighing in at 1 kg weight.

In Excellent original condition with no issues or faults.

The sommerso technique is unique. It features a solid colour of molten glass fused with a second layer of clear glass that serves to preserve the colour of the first layer without allowing it to fade into the second layer. Coloured layers of glass are sealed within layers of clear glass. Clear layers are blended together to create form and shape without degrading any of the colours contained in the design. Generally, the technique is achieved by dipping a solid glass object into a layer of molten glass. Made in Italy in the 1960's.
