Description
From my personal collection.
PROBABLY THE MOST FAMOUS HYPERINFLATION TIME IN HISTORY WAS POST WW1 GERMANY (THEN CALLED THE WEIMAR REPUBLIC).
THIS IS AN EXTREMELY RARE NOTE IN ANY CONDITION.
Just simply marvel at the face value of this German gem. Written is FUNFZIG Milliarden' in German which is in English '50 x Billion!!', the face value of this note.
You are viewing hyper-inflation AS IT REALLY TOOK OFF!! Issued by Germany in 1923, the year that hyper-inflation WENT CRAZY!!
This was actual national currency, not fantasy money!
Just imagine the shock felt by the average citizen compelled to pay BILLIONS of Marks for something that had cost just a handful of Marks if not Pfennigs (pennies) a short while before!!
This note was issued in Berlin and has the signatures of 12 different Reichsbank (Imperial Central Bank) Directors flanked by Imperial Eagles. Safety in numbers?
Also, it has an anti-counterfeiting clause! Threatening would-be offenders with jail.
Printed Berlin, 10 October 1923. 100% original.
See the scan for the condition.
Questions and combined post are always welcome!
