This Prestigious $50 PhoneCard/Banknote set was presented as a joint initiative between Telecom New Zealand Ltd and the Reserve Bank of New Zealand IN October 1995.

This was the first time such an initiative had been under taken between these two organisations.

The $50 PhoneCard and $50 Banknote both feature the native Kokako bird – the image on the PhoneCard is taken from the same photograph that was used as the basis for the illustration on the Banknote.

Adding to the uniqueness of this set, the serial number on the reverse of the PhoneCard matches that on the Banknote, which also corresponds with the number on the Certificate of Authenticity accompanying this impressive set. Also, the serial number on the Banknote is printed red on the back of the note only – first time the serial number has been printed on the back of a New Zealand Banknote.
