Here we have a series 1928E United States Note (Red Seal). Series 1928 marked the transition from large size notes to small size notes. The United States Note differed from other notes (Silver Certificates, Gold Certificates, and Even Federal Reserve notes at that time) which were all backed by precious metals. The backing of the United States Note was the faith and credit of the government (much like what backs today's currecny in both NZ and the US). The note itself is a circulated example of this series, with no rips, tears, or writing. The papaer maintains much of its original body and results in a very good exaple of the note despite it having seen circulation.
