Description
The Zaandam clock is named after the originals which were designed and manufactured between 1675 and 1725 by several clock-making families who had settled in the Zaansestreek, a region bordering the small Zaan River just north of Amsterdam. The case features an Atlas holding the universe and the crest, cast in brass, of some Dutch cities. The motto "NU ELCK SYN SIN" on the clock's bronze fret piece is Dutch for "Now to each his own." There are glass panels on either side of the clock through which high quality movement can be viewed. The face has a crisp nickel finish with striking black Roman numbers and polished brass hands- all in very good condition.
This clock’s 8-day weight driven brass movement has been fully serviced and was found to be in a mint condition. It runs beautifully and timekeeping is excellent. The clock strikes a bell on the half hour and the hour count on the hour. This clock just looks great on any wall with its brass chains and solid brass pear shaped polished weights. So does it’s brass ‘man riding a horse’ pendulum as can be seen on the photos.
The case measures approx. 52 cm long, 22 cm wide and 12 cm deep not counting the chains and weights.
If you have ever wanted to own one of these beautiful 8-day movement clocks, here is your chance, as this beautiful example!
