Description
This card table was made around 1920. The mahogany, carved scrolls, pedestal with platform base and paw feet are typical of the Empire design period. Made just before the Industrial Revolution, most Empire furniture pieces were handmade by skilled artisans in their own shops.
This table is 28" high and the top is 36" by 18 ' folded and is 36" by 36" when open for play. The top also swivels to reveal a game storage drawer.
For its age, it is in good condition with a couple of minor marks and a small piece of veneer missing. These faults do not detract from its beauty and are only to be expected with age. The internal bays and the storage compartments which are both revealed when the table is open are in excellent condition, as is the baize.
