Description
A very beautiful and interesting old lidded wooden box or chest.
Metal makers badge to the interior - STOUT SMITH TRUST MANUFACTURERS OF HIGH GRADE CABINETS SALEM, INDIANA
This company name was used from 1913 to 1929 when they changed to Smith Cabinet Mfg. Co.
The number '1286' is impressed to the top of the lid and also the underside of the box.
There is handwriting to the base in pencil which I can't quite make out - something 'Country Club' something....
Approx 48 x 26.5cms and 22.5cms high.
There are unusual plug holes to the top of the lid and also the front side and there must have been something on each corner of the lid as the holes have been filled. There's been a repair to the right front foot.
I've included lots of photos which will provide the best description - overall it's still in wonderful condition given it's age and use.
A very beautiful old wooden box still very much usable today.
Buyer is welcome to pick up from Beckenham.
