There is nothing to compare with the iridescent royal blue of the Morpho butterfly! It's easy to see why Butterfly wing jewelry became so popular in the early 20th century. This beautiful Morpho wing is preserved under a round perspex dome mounted within a decorative bordered silver mount. There is slight color loss around the edges but apart from that it is in good, vintage condition. The brooch measures 2.5cm diameter and is marked on the back,MADE IN ENGLAND and STERLING SILVER . Based on my research, I believe this to be an early example...mid 1930's.
