Croton Model in PRISTINE Shape

In my travels I see many watches, some very high quality, some rare and others quite beautiful. The following “Cocktail” evening watch checks all the boxes, I think, and if you think it looks nice in the photographs you’ll be even more pleased with it in person.

It was made by the Croton Watch Co. of Switzerland, a respected name that was part of Nivada Watch of Gretchen, Switzerland founded by Jacob Schneider in 1926. This particular watch dates to the early 1950s and features a Solid Platinum case that is adorned with 28 Genuine Diamonds, all securely set.

This watch measures 25mm lug tip to lug tip and 14mm in width (15.5mm with original winding crown). This works out to be 1 inch long by 5/8 of an inch wide, including the crown. It is fitted on a black color cord bracelet strap with original clasp and fittings that measures a total length of 6-3/4 inches. This cord is elasticized so will stretch even longer. Powering this watch is its original Croton 375 caliber, 17 jewel mechanism, fully serviced.

The ivory color, matte enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, a couple tiny age specks but it shows beautifully as you can see . It features a 60 minute checkered outer track border, black enameled Arabic style numerals and original blue steel Leaf-style hands. Signed “CROTON” below the 12 and SWISS at the base of the dial.

The solid glass crystal is in excellent, clear condition with no flaws. The two-piece case is also in excellent condition, a beautifully designed mid-century example of Solid Platinum (10% precious metal Iridium and 90% Platinum) and featuring Twenty Eight 28 Genuine Diamonds of high clarity that simply SPARKLE. The matching and original winding crown is in excellent shape, operating smoothly.
