11.3/4'' LONG. 7'' BLADE.
RARE SPANISH BELDUQUE, C1810.
BLADE ENGRAVED WITH SCROLLWORK AND = 'BIBA MIDVENO ISENOR';= MAYBE THE NAME OF THE KNIFES OWNER.
'LO BES PVESDE MVERTE ES'; = SEEMS TO TRANSLATE VERY ROUGHLY AS 'KISS OF DEATH PENALTY HEAVEN'.
This rare fine antique late18th or early 19th century Belduque knife features a two colour fluted horn grip, riveted brass blade decorations, fancy file worked spine, finely engraved blade and grip bolsters, and a iron flower shaped pommel cap. One side reads "Lo Bes Pvesde Mverte Es" and on the reverse is "Biba Midveno Isenor". The knife is nearly twelve inches long, has a seven inch blade with three inch false edge. This is a well made knife, with lovely aged patina, that will enhance any collection.
In good used antique condition commensurate with age.
