VERY NICE Antique IVORY Handled Indian DAGGER

I would NOT normally describe Indian knives as "very nice" BUT this one IS a wee bit of an EXCEPTION :-)
It certainly is a *CUT ABOVE* the usual reproduction & mass produced *crappolla* that mostly emanates from the subcontinent
Broad double edged dagger blade reminiscent of a Naval Petty Officer's Dirk of the late 18th Century, with hand-cut fuller (blood groove) to both sides
Proudly etched with nation of manufacture on each side, One side in English, and the other (I imagine) is Indian or Hindi ?? (Sanskrit ?)
Probably saying the same as the English on the reverse side
COMFORTABLE to hold with excellent BALANCE afforded by it's hefty ANTIQUE Elephant Ivory handle
The Brass cross guard ALSO nice & comfortably-formed, fitting TIGHTLY with the SOLID IVORY bulbous grip which clearly exhibits characteristic "Lines of Owen" (ovals)
As well as the un-fake-able Schreger lines AKA the "Lines of Retzius". These fine intersecting lines are visible in cross section, & give an engine-turned effect (intersecting lines with a diamond shape between them).
Age lines (seen on the knife handle as black "cracks") DO NOT detract from the value of a piece of ivory. Some ivory connoisseurs even prefer pieces with age lines as it provides instant confirmation that the piece is old elephant ivory from long before the ivory ban
AGE = 1900's - 1960's I would guess
LENGTH = 295 mm
Blade length = 180 mm
No scabbard (or I would have PICTURED it)
I have many unreserved knives listed
I will HAPPILY combine and save you $$ on postage if you win more than one of my auctions
In most cases little if any additional postage will be required for more than 1 knife in same parcel
Please use "pay Now" and pay all postage charges and I can EASILY and INSTANTLY REFUND any postage overcharge once exact sending cost is known :-)
