Fuchi Kashira Japanese SWORD handle parts

  • Closed: Sun 22 Nov 2009, 8:45 pm
  • Listing #: 253890357
Old GENUINE antique Samurai sword handle Fuchi & Kashira "end caps" or handle ornaments that serve the simultaneous function of securely holding the two wooden halves of the handle together and looking wonderful

These exquisite items feature a pair of Plover (birds) and some Millet heads rendered skillfully in a Shakudo ground (1 carat "black Gold") and pure Gold Uttori (overlay) you might notice a few BUGS scurrying about on the leaves also !!

The background pattern is UNIQUE in my experience. An incredibly skillfull "basket weave" design that I have never seen another example of

These are KATANA size fittings that could also suit large Wakizashi

Japanese people both male and female were forbidden to wear Jewellery during the Edo period (1603-1868)

Women would wear lacquered wooden ornaments in their hair

Men would spend heavily on highly ornamental sword "furniture" (fittings)

I have owned these for over 16 years

I need to raise a lot of money in a short amount of time

A lot of the items currently listed are out of my personal collection

NOW is a very GOOD time to BUY
