Description
An interesting book named “Aircrew of Northland” written by Mr Ted Edwards. The book is of A4 format and is soft-covered. It is of 192 pages. The book features the stories of around 120 pilots and aircrew of members of the Northland Community who had service for their Country. All of the people have at one stage lived in Northland or were born there. Most of the stories are of WW2 participants but not all. There is approximately a page or so of material on each person. It starts with their birth dates, their families and through schooling and into their professions. It then moves onto their entry and training into the Air Force along with their War experiences. Most stories also continue after this right through their lives until current or the death of the individual. There is also several pages devoted to the Berlin Airlift, the bomber offensive in WW2, and the No.75 NZ Squadron. The index page can be seen in a photo below. The book is illustrated and also has photos of most of the aircrew. A fascinating book for those interested in NZ War History!
