What we have here is a project I was all lined up to begin and then decided it's time I just don't have at the moment so a unique opportunity for any of you out there with some handy and/or creative talent.

It's a genuine German M42 helmet shell in good but not perfect condition that's just screaming out for restoration. In overall very sound shape with no dents or cracks, it has pitting to the interior dome that has been partially filled. Helmet is very solid and certainly miles off relic status. I planned to hit that area with several cotes of sanding primer to smooth out prior to painting. I'm picking this is an ET or CKL helmet but the markings are impossible to make out. It is definitely a size 66 helmet, that much I know. You will need to give the helmet a clean as traces of paint stripper remain.

What you see is what you get, this is the fun part that some of you might like. This is a near complete helmet project kit less sandpaper. The wet/dry type is best. I will provide the following items.

1/ 1 original size 66cm German M42 helmet shell in tidy shape, needs love.

2/ 1 brand new full spray can quality Plastikote brand red oxide metal sanding primer. This stuff gives a beautiful smooth finish when built up.

3/ 1 full spray can Tamiya "Nato Black" still in wrapper. Good off the shelf late war colour match for German helmets.

4/ 1 bag of pumic powder to provide a rough late war paint texture. Will also hide any pitting very well. Sprinkle over first cote while wet through a fine gauze or netting prior to second cote.

5/ 2 high quality helmet decals, you decide which branch if any!

6/ 1 beautifully aged size 59cm reproduction helmet liner. This is very nice, will no doubt regret selling this. No need to age this one, looks great as is! Draw string is very nice. Fit is more like a 58cm BTW.

7/ 1 very nice reproduction chin strap, unmarked but has a very accurate buckle and will complete this helmet superbly.

8/ 1 quality set of reproduction split pin rivets and washers.
