Lovely antique Japanese Totai Cloisonne Cup and Saucer. Circa 1875 - 1885, Meiji Period. This example is bronze wired Cloisonne over porcelain (Arita porcelain). Nice wiring with birds and flowers. In very nice condition for age. On close inspection there is a tiny nibble or firing spot on the rim of the cup, a small discoloured line or firing mark on the inside of the cup and a couple of tiny cracks or firing cracks in the handle. There is also some pitting in the enamel due to great age.

This is a very rare example of Totai. I haven't seen another cup and saucer. Totai Cloisonne was only produced for around about 10 years during the Meiji period.

Cup - about 6cm high x 8cm wide including the handle.

Saucer - about 11.5cm wide x 2cm high.
