Description
Twenty four 9 carat or 15 carat gold prize medals, awarded mostly by the New Zealand Friesian Association, all to the same recipient over an 11 year period.
All but two have the actual show named and inscribed to the following A. & P. (Agricultural and Pastoral) shows: Wairarapa (9), Masterton (8), Manawatu (3), and one each of Egmont, Hawkes Bay and Horowhenua.
All 26mm in diameter with ring top suspension. Also a Reserve Champion silver medal, 35mm diameter. Also a family-related gold medal awarded to Jack Cadwallader.
The two major collections of NZ medals sold at auction in recent years (Smithers in 2005 and Lampard in 2006) did not contain a single gold medal of the NZ Friesian Assn. Most of these medals are, therefore, the first examples ever to come on the market. A superb grouping.
Also a trophy cup, 6 ounces of sterling silver. Front inscribed "Royal Agric. Society N.Z...Donated by... N.Z. Friesian Assn." With back inscribed "Champion Bull 1930, O.A Cadwallader's "King Olga Ormsby.""
Generally EF or better condition.
Start price = reserve, Tax invoice available on request.
Special Layby Payment Terms! One third deposit, with balance spread over the next 12 months.
