Beautiful porcelain 'washstand' style pieces.
These we have owned for a very long time, always together, though the jug is by Grimwades, Staffordshire, and the plate is Limoges.
Both jug and plate are hand painted and gilt embossed over creamy and buff tones. Garland of gilded beads from 'lover's knots' decorate the upper jug, with cartouches at centre front and back, a girl and cherub, the image like a cameo. The base is embossed and reeded; the handle elaborate, decorated and graceful. The swing lid is pewter and porcelain domed.

Condition: These are well over 100 years old....the jug has a hairline age crack at base which makes it best treated as purely ornamental....it doesn't detract, but needs to be mentioned. Otherwise both pieces are in wonderful order, the gilding consistent, the glaze smooth.

Victorian, beautiful....and certainly very rare.
