Very old (I would guess mid to late 1800's) very rare, cast iron strong man barbell. Revolving hollow bells on a thick, cast iron bar.

Empty it weighs about 50kgs.

The old timers used to put equal amounts of sand or shot into the hollow bells to vary the weight or increase resistance as the lifter got stronger. The plugs for the bells have been lost - but two more could easily be manufactured at little cost.

The only other one of these in New Zealand that I know of -is one that Alf Jenkins Gym in Wellington had - and I guess still does.
