I have available a vintage late 1970's era genuine Cartier handmade photo frame.
Frame is made of Sterling silver and is marked 925 accordingly, along with the Cartier signature in hallmark script at the bottom of the frame (on the rim) This piece was produced most likely in the U.S or possibly in Italy or Spain due to the use of the 925 marking,this marking is not typical of the French or UK hallmarking system. The piece is in EXCELLENT condition overall and has the original maroon red velvet fitted backing stand which has the CARTIER inter locking 'C's' in satin or silk on it's internal surface. Original glass I assume by its condition which appears scratch free on the visible picture area,though has the slightest nibbling to its edges most likely from removing and cleaning etc.
The silver is very clean in appearance almost mirror like with just the smallest depression to the front surface below one of the Cartier hallmark motifs. Silver has worth noting VERY light cosmetic surfaces marks consistent to age and use,these are few and far between and are noted for accuracy's sake only.
Minimal degrees of wear to the velvet backing namely around the silver fastening tab's on the back (through use) all normal wear and shouldn't be noted as misuse or rough treatment. The style of the frame is modernist with nice clean simplistic lines and the oval frame would suit a portrait image of a loved one beautifully. The frame measures a total of 12.5cm's by 10cm's with viewing image size approx 10.7cm's by 8cm’s. A beautiful object to hold a special photograph in...its doesn't get much better than Cartier!
