Description
Kia Ora,
This piece is packed with symbolism and meaning! The Chinese and Japanese rich art history has been a sorce of inspiration to me for many years. Chinese symbols and their meanings revolve around good fortune, and positive elements. It is the Chinese belief that by filling their lives with lucky objects and images, they increase prosperity and happy circumstances, making their existence joyful and fulfilling. Symbols and signs have graced their architecture, language, artwork, and everyday objects for centuries. Emblems of good fortune, luck and strength can be used to enhance all areas of their lives. Further, they are said to manifest positive aspects of Chi (energy), and ensure harmony and happiness.
So I tried to use what I learnt from research and advice from kind Chinese friends, and created this piece in the attempt to represent (eternal love)...
Baltic Amber- 100% GENUINE Baltic Amber. This is not a copal, synthetic, or Amber that has been reconstituted on to modern insects. Purchased from a highly reputable dealer from Gdansk, Poland. Estimated to be between 60 and 90 million years old! Preserved within it are two mosquitos, like true love, together for eternity. One insect perfectly intact, the other one is on the side and a bit mangled, also a little hard to see but there non the less (you can see it in the last pic).
Mammoth bark- Fossilised tusk fragment dated at around 50000 years! Has (eternal love) engraved in Chinese and a lotus flower carved in relief. Engraved on the back is an infinity symbol that doubles as the number 8, which represents good luck in Chinese culture. The piece is stained with India ink.
Findings- Solid 9ct gold bail (stamped). Please note that you are buying the pendant ONLY, and the necklace is NOT included.
Check out my traditional heart shaped kauri gum pendant!
Happy Valentine :) Sami
