Art-a-loo!

To support and encourage those living with Crohn's and Colitis, four established and emerging New Zealand artists have created an exquisite exhibition to raise awareness of the daily challenges Crohn's and Colitis sufferers face.

Due to the symptoms of bowel inflammation, Crohn's Disease and ulcerative colitis sufferers often desperately need toilets. CCNZ is using Art-a-loo to raise awareness of those who have experienced more toilets than anyone else and to do so in an uplifting way.

Featured on TVNZ Breakfast on 29th July, the Art-a-loos are truly unique pieces of art that will never be replicated.

This is your one and only chance to have a designer portaloo as part of your art collection! The Art-a-loo can be restored to full functionality if you would like it to be!

This Art-a-loo was created by Grey Lynn artist Component, who is part of group Cut Collective. His artworks take the form of stencil work, t-shirts, street art, music and promotional work. Cut Collective has debuted works for Tiger Beer, Auckland City Art Gallery and Base FM.

Component's Art-a loo captures the idea of a toilet being a beacon for people who live with Crohn's. X Marks the Spot uses imagery and typography to make the Art-a loo represent the reality of life for so many people with Crohn's and colitis. This piece also has an internal light which emits a glow through the roof and walls.
