2. Erin Dunn: Ring-a-ring-a-rosie

Dimensions & materials:
60cm in diameter, hand screen printed heatset textile ink on cream cotton and polyester filling.(2010)


Erin has used her own distinctive style to create a wreath using her unique rose and bow patterns. Each individual screen printed object has been stuffed and then attached to the supporting ring and sewn together to form the shape of the wreath.

The Project:
Parnell celebrates Christmas with 20 artists reinterpreting the wreath, with works on exhibit in 20 Parnell stores and galleries from November 19 - December 19. In the spirit of Christmas, most works are for sale by TradeMe auction during this period, with twenty percent of proceeds to be donated to the NZ Gynaecological Cancer Foundation.

Established in May 2007, The New Zealand Gynaecological Cancer Foundation's mission is to educate and inform all NZ women about the signs and symptoms of gynaecological cancers, to encourage early detection and to provide support for women following diagnosis and treatment.

The Foundations primary focus for 2010/11 is raising awareness of the symptoms of the four main forms of gynaecological cancer - uterine, ovarian, cervical and vaginal/vulval cancer. This is for the simple goal of getting women to a specialist, sooner. Early detection can save lives.

As the Foundation matures, they also wish to provide research grants for vital research into the causes and treatment of gynaecological cancers.
