18. Jamie Young: Garland
Dimensions & materials: 600mm in diameter, upcycled tablecloth, Paverpol fabric hardener (2010)
Her contribution to the Good Wreath! exhibition is Garland. About this work she states: I wanted to create something simple but intriguing if you looked a little closer. I enjoy the delicate qualities of doilies and marvel at their handmade individuality. I wanted to challenge the viewer, transforming the material by changing its tactility. I form my ceramic objects to still retain a flexible paper character; this is the opposite scenario for the wreath where I worked a soft and pliable fabric into a hardened structural shape.
